Temnos – Menemen, Izmir

Temnos was one of the 12 cities of Aeolis. It was founded on Mount Dumanlı, overlooking the Hermus (Gediz) River. Mentioned by the historian Herodotus, the city continued its existence through the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

Although few structures remain visible on the surface today, traces such as parts of city walls, cisterns, and a theatre hollow can be seen. The city has not yet undergone extensive excavation, making it a settlement "waiting to be discovered."
