Karakabaklı – Silifke, Mersin
Karakabaklı is a remarkably well-preserved rural settlement dating to the Roman and Early Byzantine periods. It is connected to the Işıkkale settlement by ancient roads.
The most distinctive feature of this village-type settlement is the quality of stonemasonry and the density of structures.
Highlights:
- Tetrapylon: Ruins of a four-pillared monumental gate.
- Churches: Ruins of basilica-plan churches.
- Houses: Two-story ancient houses with courtyards and olive oil workshops.
- Monumental Tomb: A tomb structure from the Roman period.
