Didyma – Didim, Aydın
Didyma was the great oracle sanctuary of Apollo, linked to Miletus by the Sacred Way. The colossal Apollo Temple (begun late 4th c. BC) is a dipteral, unfinished giant with monumental columns, a deep pronaos, and an inner courtyard with the naiskos; the oracle operated through a spring beneath the cella. Nearby Medusa reliefs, treasuries, and the Sacred Road with seated statues and bases underline its ritual importance. Hellenistic and Roman phases show continuous rebuilding after Persian destruction.
