Idebessos – Kumluca, Antalya
Idebessos is a small but significant Lycian city located in the Alakır Valley, near Karacaören Village. The city is hidden within a forested area.
Its most striking feature is the numerous Lycian-type sarcophagi found at the entrance and within the city. The reliefs and inscriptions on the sarcophagi are remarkably well-preserved.
Highlights:
- Sarcophagi: Scattered throughout the U-shaped settlement, some serving as family tombs.
- Bath-Gymnasium: Ruins from the Roman period.
- Theatre: A small-sized theatre, largely destroyed.
- Byzantine Church: Ruins of a religious structure from the late period.
