Tripolis is an important trade and agricultural city located on the banks of the Meander River, at the intersection of the Lydia, Phrygia, and Caria regions. Founded in the Hellenistic period, the city experienced its golden age during the Roman era.

Recent excavations have unearthed many structures previously buried underground.
