Olympos Ancient City – Kumluca, Antalya
Olympos was one of the important cities of the Lycian League, possessing three voting rights. Built in a valley along a river, the city holds a place in history as both a port city and a pirate haven. It served as the base for the famous pirate Zenicetes.
It is famous for its natural beauty, beach, and the eternal flames (Yanartaş).
Highlights:
- Sarcophagus of Captain Eudemos: Located at the harbor entrance, featuring a ship relief and a poem.
- Roman Temple Gate: Remains of a magnificent gate.
- Mosaic Building: Structure adorned with floor mosaics.
- Yanartaş (Chimaera): Eternal flames burning for thousands of years due to natural gas vents near the city. It is the source of the mythological Chimaera legend.
